Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass Muscle Building

There are many bodybuilding workout routines for mass muscle building, all of them have their uses and it is important to know which muscle building routines you can use. There are two great sayings in the muscle building world which are: "everything works, but nothing works forever" and "a workout is only as good as the time it takes your body to adapt to it".

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass Muscle Building

These sayings are great and are fundamental to building muscle in the gym. Doing the same workouts, especially if you have been training for some months now, will not give great results, (this is maybe why you are reading this). Changing your muscle building routine every few weeks will ensure you keeping building muscle and do not have any muscle building plateaus. So let's look at some bodybuilding workout routines for mass muscle building.

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass Muscle Building

Image: Graeme Weatherston / FreeDigitalPhotos.net Volume training is probably one of the most popular and effective bodybuilding workout routines for mass muscle building. As the name would suggest, the workouts use a higher volume of training per muscle group, using rep ranges of around 8-15. The higher volume breaks down muscle tissue to promote growth and also gets a good muscle pump. Which some people argue is essential for building muscle.

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass: Strength Training

Strength training is another fairly self explanatory style of training from the name. Strength training workouts are another great style of training as generally stronger muscles are bigger muscles. Just look at the size of some of the guys in strongmen competitions for evidence. Strength training can also give muscles a firmer denser look and feel, (providing that body fat levels are low enough). This is a fairly unknown fact as a lot of people think that doing high volume gets the "toned" look, most people are striving for.

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass: Supersets & Tri-Sets Workouts

I have placed supersets and tri-sets workouts together because they are very similar. These are great bodybuilding workout routines for mass, as they can increase the intensity and density of your workouts. They are workouts were the exercises are performed back to back without rest. For example: a superset could be a set of barbell bench presses, followed by a set dumbbell fly's, then rest before doing another round of exercises. These style of workouts can help you through muscle building plateaus due to the complete change in intensity.

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass: Density Training

Density training is a rather unused bodybuilding workout routine for mass, yet it can be very effective. The idea is to do more work in same (or less) time period and therefore increase the density of your work. One of the simplest ways to increase the density of your workouts is to reduce the rest periods between sets. Density training can be great for muscle building plateaus, as you do not have to increase the weight on the bar, because the reduced rest periods acts as a form of progressive overload.

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass: High Frequency Training

High frequency training has received a lot of press in recent years and has earned its place among the best bodybuilding workout routines for mass. The idea as the name suggests, is to increase the frequency that you work a muscle group. This is subjective to what frequency you are doing at present, but a high frequency routine could be classed as around four full body workouts a week. The amount of work you do on each muscle is lowered for individual workouts, but the extra workouts increases the volume. The main saying here for your muscle is to "stimulate not annihilate".

Bodybuilding Workout Routines For Mass

Hopefully now you can see that there are many bodybuilding workout routines for mass muscle building. The workouts mentioned above are only a quick introduction to some of them. It is important vary your training style, not only for optimal muscle building. But also, it is nice to keep change your workouts to keep your interest and motivation up. You can look forward to fresh new training styles every week, while also packing on lean muscle.

The 5 Best Exercises For Building Mass & Power

1. The Squat
The big boy of all weight bearing exercises. The squat has been called the king of all exercises and rightly so. The squats have am indirect effect on your body, meaning squats work just about every muscle in the body, especially the thighs and quads. Even the calves get worked with heavy squats.

2. The Deadlift
Another exercise with massive indirect effects. The deadlift works the whole body and some say all you need is the deadlift and a pressing exercise and you're in business. The hamstrings and back are the hardest hit. The deadlift is also the best ab exercise around. Do a couple sets of good, hard deadlifts once and see how sore you abs are after.

3. Overhead Press
Great exercise for your shoulders and upper back. Do them standing up instead of setting down. Why? Because it's harder that's why. The old timers did heavy presses and they always did them standing. Many of the old-school lifters liked to press heavy dumbbells to work one arm at a time. Barbells or dumbbells, either way, do presses.

4. Bench Press
Works the chest and the triceps hard. No need to do wimpy tricep pushdowns or french presses with this bad boy. Heavy benches are the only exercise you need to work your chest and triceps.

5. Chins
The chin up is the best bicep exercise around, bar none. Try this experiment: Flex your bicep but keep the palm of your hand facing away from you. You should be looking at the back of your hand. Now grab your bicep with your other hand and feel how soft it is. Now rotate your wrist so that the palm of your hand on the flexed bicep is now facing you. Did you feel the contraction? That's what happens during heavy chins. If you're getting off too many reps, add weight to your body. If you can't do chins, switch to pulldowns instead, but keep your palms facing you.

There you have it. The five best exercises for building mass and power. If you make these fabulous five the foundation of your program, lift heavy and with max intensity, you'll be out-growing your clothes before you know it.

The Best Arm Workout For Mass And Strength

Ever since the age of 17, I've always been fascinated with body building and power lifting. Not only did I want to build confidence within myself, but most importantly, attract the opposite sex - GIRLS! I was your basic teenager.

As a hard-gainer, it's almost impossible to add mass or bulk to an existing body frame. Like any teenage boy, I would immediately reference all of the body building and muscle magazines. I would pour through and try out all of the latest and greatest routines. Little did I know, I was setting myself up for failure each and every time. Again, I did not have that type of body structure.

The Best Arm Workout For Mass And Strength

One day, I came across a body building book that focused on squats, dead lifts, and bench presses. Those three core exercises were all that were discussed. The focus of the book was on compound, multi-joint exercises, and abbreviated, focused training.

You see, the biceps, triceps, and forearms are considered secondary or assisting muscle groups. These muscles assist the larger muscles, back, chest, shoulders, with lifting weight.

The typical body building routine has an individual training not only the chest, back, and shoulder muscles directly, but then follow-up with training those secondary muscle groups, the biceps, triceps, and forearms.

WRONG!

If you truly want to build your biceps, triceps, and forearms, stick with JUST the core, basic, compound exercises that focus on those larger muscle groups, chest, back, and shoulders. Again, those core exercises are squats, dead lifts, and bench presses. I would also strongly suggest pull-ups, my FAVORITE for building massive biceps, and shoulder presses, another favorite for building massive triceps.

The aforementioned core exercises completely drain those secondary muscles when done properly. Once you've completed a routine focusing on those core compound exercises, you shouldn't have the strength nor energy to even think about performing bicep curls, hammer curls, concentration curls, Cambridge bar or overhead extensions, press downs, or close-grip presses.

FOCUS on the core compound exercises, eat good food, get plenty of rest, and watch your arms grow like inflating balloons! I promise! This has worked for me, and my friends. Give it a try!
